How to uninstall McAfee WaveSecure or McAfee Mobile Security if you used update.zip to install it to your phone's ROM

This article explains how to uninstall McAfee WaveSecure or McAfee Mobile Security if you installed it to the ROM on your phone using update.zip.

 

Solution

If you installed McAfee WaveSecure or McAfee Mobile Security to the ROM on your phone using update.zip, you must download the Android SDK (software developer kit) to remove it.

1. Download the Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html.
2. Create a new folder on the root of your C: drive and name it androidSDK.
3. Unzip the SDK zip file inside the folder you created.
4. Connect your phone to the computer.
5. Clear the WaveScure cache on the phone.
6. Open a command prompt on your computer:
   
   
   • Windows XP: Click Start, Run, type CMD, and press ENTER.
   • Windows Vista/7: Click the Windows orb, type CMD in the search box, right-click CMD, and select Run as Administrator.
      
      
7. Type CD\ and press Enter.
8. Type the command below and press ENTER:
   
   CD androidSDK
   
   
9. Type the command below and press ENTER:
   
   CD Tools
   
   
10. Type the command below and press ENTER: 
    
    ADB REMOUNT
    
    
11. Type the command below and press ENTER: 
    
    ADB SHELL RM /SYSTEM/APP/*WSANDROID*

WaveSecure or McAfee Mobile Security is now removed from your device.
