If after making changes to your Firewall settings you are having connection issues, or you just want to start fresh, you can easily restore the Firewall to the default security level.

The default security level allows outbound-only network access, enables Smart Recommendations, restores the list of default programs and their permissions in the Program Permissions pane, removes trusted and banned IP addresses, and restores system services, event log settings, and intrusion detection.

Automatically restoring your Firewall settings can cause other customized settings to be lost. Make a note of your customized settings before you restore to the default security level.

  1. Open your McAfee product.
  2. Select Web and Email Protection.
  3. Click Firewall.
  4. Click Restore Defaults.

IMPORTANT: Once this option is selected, the action is taken. A confirmation question is not displayed.

After a few moments the firewall setting will be returned to defaults. You may receive messages from the product as you would have when first installing. This is normal behavior.
