What is the McAfee Auto-Renewal program?

Issue Description

All paid subscription services are automatically enrolled in the McAfee Auto-Renewal program, which includes automatic renewal in your account. This feature ensures your virus protection is not interrupted. Without the auto-renewal feature, you would be left unprotected when your license expires. This information is disclosed on the website at the time of purchase. This information is also stated in the End User License Agreement (EULA), which must be accepted at the time of installation.

You can read the entire McAfee EULA at

Frequently Asked Questions

Does all McAfee software have the auto renewal feature?
Yes. All McAfee software is purchased as a subscription and includes the Auto-Renewal feature. This includes AntiVirus PlusInternet Security Suite, Total Protection, and McAfee All Access.

McAfee Subscription Services are online managed products. The benefits include automatic updates and upgrades, providing you with any new releases of the products as soon as they become available. No matter how many improvements or additions are made to the services, you are guaranteed up-to-date protection for the entire duration of your subscription.

McAfee Subscription Services mean non-stop protection with a minimum of effort from the user. McAfee takes care of all tasks for you, such as virus definition updates, Engine updates, installation of product patches, renewals and product upgrades.

Why does McAfee use auto-renewal?
McAfee implemented the auto-renewal service after a majority of McAfee customers indicated that they prefer to have their license renewed automatically rather than having to manually re-purchase the subscription each year.

The auto-renewal feature can be turned off at any time by logging into your account at http://home.mcafee.com, going through My Account, and selecting Auto-Renewal Settings.

When will my subscription be renewed?
Your subscription will be automatically renewed 30 days before its expiration date at the current renewal rate, and billed to the credit card on file for your account.

You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via email.

Can I change the date when the renewal is processed?
If you want the renewal to be processed earlier or later than 30 days prior to expiration, you can cancel the automatic renewal feature and renew manually at any time.

To cancel the automatic renewal, do the following:
  1. Open a web browser and go to: http://home.mcafee.com/.
  2. Log in using the email address and password you created when you originally purchased your McAfee Software.
  3. Click Log In.
  4. Mouse over My Account and select Auto-Renewal Settings.
  5. To disable Auto-Renewal, click Turn Off. If the option to Turn Off is not enabled, your Auto-Renewal is already turned off and you do not need to do anything.
If you require additional assistance, contact Customer Service by Chat or Phone.

After canceling the auto-renewal, you can renew your subscription when it is most convenient for you. For detailed instructions on how to renew your subscription, please see CS40115.

A full year will be added to your subscription, beginning on your current expiration date. You will not lose any time from your current subscription.

If you decide later that you would like to re-enroll in the McAfee Auto-Renewal program, you can do so online. To activate Auto-Renewal, do the following:
