How to change the user name for a WaveSecure account

Summary

The user name for McAfee WaveSecure on a smartphone is your phone number. On a tablet device, it is your email address.

Use the following solution to change the user name as required.

Solution

IMPORTANT: The following procedure applies only to installed, active WaveSecure instances. If you have already removed the application, contact Technical Support for assistance with a phone number/email address update. You can find contact information at http://service.mcafee.com.

Smartphone Edition
  1. Power off your phone.
  2. Insert your new SIM. If your phone locks, use your normal six-digit PIN to unlock it.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Log in to www.wavesecure.com with your user name (your original phone number) and your six-digit PIN.

    You see the new phone number in the Tracking section.

     
  5. Directly below the new phone number, click Make this my phone number for login.

    NOTE: This feature is not available for some phone numbers with a European country code because of privacy laws of most European countries.
     
  6. Log out and log back in with the new phone number as the user name.
    The change takes effect.
NOTES:
  • If you are a Nokia India or iOS user, you cannot change your user name.
  • If you are a CDMA user, contact McAfee Mobile Support at https://service.mcafee.com for assistance. 



 Tablet Edition

  1. Log in to www.wavesecure.com with your user name (your original email address) and your six-digit PIN.
  2. Click Settings, and then click My Account.
  3. On the email box, type your new email address, and click Change Email.

    You see a confirmation message stating that your profile has been successfully updated to your new email address after the account has been changed.

  4. Log out and log back in with the new email address as the user name.

    The change takes effect.

Have the following information available when you contact support:
  • The original phone number for which your WaveSecure product was initially activated
  • The phone number for which you want to activate WaveSecure
  • The IMEI or MEID for the smartphone and IMEI/Serial number for tablet (for verification purposes)

    NOTE: Inform your support agent if you have installed the standalone version of WaveSecure.
