McAfee Security Installation Guide for Comcast Subscribers
Comcast is pleased to provide you with state-of-the-art McAfee Security that is included with your Comcast High-Speed Internet Service. To get started, go to http://www.comcast.net/security. On this page, you will find information on how to begin the authentication, download, and installation process for McAfee Security tools.
This guide can help new users who have never installed McAfee security tools in the past, as well as existing users who may have McAfee currently installed on their desktop but want to upgrade to the latest version or need to reinstall.
Before You Install
Before you begin to download and install the McAfee software, review the Before you install instructions in the upper right hand corner. Taking these steps will help ensure a successful installation.
- Disable pop-up blockers
- Confirm that your Internet Explorer browser security is set to Medium
- Uninstall any existing security software
- Review the minimum system requirements
Getting Started
Download your McAfee software
- Go to http://www.comcast.net/security.
- Under Get Protected, click the Download Now button.
- On the next screen, click the Download Now button to begin the download and installation of the latest version of McAfee Security Suite.
Logging In
Note: You must be signed into your Comcast.net account to continue the download.
- If you are not already signed into your Comcast.net account, you will be prompted to sign in.
- The login page will ask you for your Comcast.net user name and password. If you know your Comcast.net user name and password, type them here and click Sign In.
- If you do not know your Comcast.net user name and password, click on the Need help signing in? link to the right of the Sign In button.
- Click I Agree to the McAfee End User License Agreement to proceed with your download.
Download Manager
- On the Download Manager Instruction Page, write down the Serial number listed, as this information may be requested later.
- Click the Download button to begin installing the McAfee Download Manager.
- Click the Run button each time you are prompted to proceed with the installation.
- If you are asked for your serial number, type it in the box provided, then click Next.
Download and Install the McAfee Security Suite
New Users: You should see only McAfee Security Suite listed.
Existing Users: You will see McAfee Security Suite as well as any other previously installed McAfee products. Be sure to select McAfee Security Suite. This will ensure that you install only the latest software.
- You can choose Customize to select specific items to install, or click the Download button to start a standard download.
Customize your installation
If you choose to customize your installation, uncheck the boxes to identify any components you do not want to install, then click Download.
You will see a Status Screen as the software is downloaded and installed. All programs you selected will install automatically.
Final steps of the installation
Note: McAfee can create a desktop icon to launch the SecurityCenter. You also have the option to give us anonymous feedback to help optimize and improve our products. Uncheck either of these options if you do not want them.
- Click Next.
Your installation is complete!
- Click the Finish button and restart your computer.
Your computer is now protected from viruses and spyware, and you have a powerful toolkit with McAfee software to help keep your computer safe, secure and healthy.
